microblading
-
What is microblading?
Microblading is a form so semi-permanent makeup, where I will aslk you through th eprocess of choosing the best eyebrow shape and color for you, numb your skin, and will etch little, hairlike strokes into the top layer of your skin. A touch up is required 6-7 weeks after the first appointment to ensure every stroke held and they are perfect for you!
-
what is the difference between microblading and microshading?
Microblading looks like little, natural hair strokes where the shading gives a more powdered and makeup effect.
-
what is the pain level?
As you enter the studio, I will apply a numbing agent. On a scale of 1-10, the discomfort may be a 2 or 3. After the reapplied numbing cream, the pain is typically brought down to a 1 or 2. Very tolerable!
-
will my skin be red or swollen after?
Depending on your skin type, the area may be slightly red and irritated after. Redness will subside in a couple hours, or in some cases 1-3 days. You will still be able to go about every day activities and be seen in public just the same. Most people don’t experience any redness at all!
-
how long is the appointment?
Prepare to block off about two hours to be in the studio for your first appointment, and then about a half hour for touch up appointments.
-
What does the appointment entail?
You will come in to the studio and I will numb you for 20 minutes while I give you some paperwork to fill out. We will then go over your desired look in detail and I will explain the aftercare. Next, I will draw them on for you to see, and proceed with the microblading. You will then heal for one week, and come back to the studio for your touch up appointment seven weeks later. The same aftercare applies to both the initial and follow up appointment.
-
How do you choose the shape and color for each client?
Every client’s face shape, skin tone, and skin type is different, meaning there are no cookie cutter eyebrows. I design every client’s eyebrows to fit their face using special tools and techniques. I then mix pigments to create a perfect color, to match your individual eyebrow color, and ensure perfect enhancement.
-
How important is aftercare?
Aftercare is extremely important! Without proper aftercare, your eyebrows won’t have the full potential to heal perfectly. This includes keeping a thin layer of Aquaphor on your brows and keeping them away from the sun and water for one week. It may sound difficult, but the results are worth it! It is apparent how well the aftercare was followed when the client comes in for their touch up.
-
How long does the process take?
The healing process is 7-10 days. There is no downtime - only a couple days of your brows looking a little darker than usual. The skin will flake slightly on days 5 and 7, which sounds a lot worse than it looks. Some clients experience no flaking at all! The skin takes a full 35 days to rejuvenate, therefore touch ups are scheduled 6-8 weeks later. Touch ups cannot be done before that time.
-
Will my brows fade?
Your brows will heal about 30% lighter than the color they are during the healing process. The color you see after 10 days is how they will remain, so if you need to go darker in the touch up we definitely can! After 10 days of healing, you are able to put sunscreen on the brows to preserve them. Annual touch ups and color boosts are required to maintain brows, and may be performed sooner to those with oily skin.
-
How long does microblading last?
Depending on the skin type (sun damage, oily, dry, aged, etc.) and lifestyle (how often someone sweats, goes swimming, skin care routine, goes tanning, etc.) microblading can last anywhere from 1-2 years. Touch ups and color boosts are recommended.
-
What are the rules with botox?
I prefer you wait at least three weeks after Botox to get microblading done.
-
Are you able to work over someone else's work?
I am very selective if you have already had previous permanent makeup. The reason is because there may be scar tissue caused by a previous artist going too deep and the microblading won’t hold. If the brows are too dark or already have a certain shape, it is hard for me to go over it with my work. Please let me know if this is the case so you can send me a picture before booking your microblading appointment.
-
What is the guest policy?
Due to the nature of my detailed, semi-invasive service, I kindly ask you to arrive unaccompanied to your appointment. I very strictly do not allow children, hubby’s/boyfriends, friends, or pets to accompany you in the studio. No guests allowed!

microblading aftercare
Aftercare Steps
Aftercare should be done mornings and before bed for one week. Always apply a large amount of Aquaphor before getting into the shower
Wash your hands
Suds a pea sized drop of Cetaphil or dove soap in between your fingers.
Place on a lightly dampened cotton round.
Gently dab/wipe the brows with the damp cotton round.
Pat brows dry with a dry tissue.
Take a small, rice grain sized amount of Aquaphor and smooth over brows with a q-tip.
Repeat twice a day
After your appointment, every hour, blot eyebrows with a damp cottom round and pat try. Do net let lympf fluid build up. If you have oily skin, do this every 30 minutes. Apply Aquaphor 2 hours after your appointment.
*You will have a thin, clear layer of Aquaphor on brows at all times, for one week, or until flakes have fallen off. Only use enough to make brows shiny. Too much will make the brows scab, as well as not using enough.
Aftercare is very, very important! I will charge more for your touch up if I see that you haven’t followed the proper aftercare.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call or text me at 207-974-8308.
what to expect
Day of getting brows: The skin will not be as red and swollen as you may expect. There may be slight irritation, but can be covered with concealer or foundation. Any redness or swelling will normally subside in a matter of one to three hours, meaning you can go out in public just the same. They will look fresh, crisp, and brand new. Your brows will darken slightly by the end of the night.
Days 2-4: “My brows are way too dark, and way too thick!” — Do not freak out! They are going to get darker before they will get lighter. The pigment is healing int0 your skin, and is forming little scabs which will fall off, leaving you with lighter brows. Your brows are going to lighten 20 to 40 percent. Please be patient, and keep applying the healing cream mornings and before bed to allow proper healing.
Days 4-7: “My brows are itchy and are flaking/peeling off!” — Do not pick or peel at your brows. Let the little flakes fall of naturally. If you pick at the flakes, it could result in scarring or loss of pigment in that area, meaning patchy brows. The ointment will help the itchiness. It is still important to be keeping them out of water until all the little flakes have fallen off.
Days 8-9: Your brows might appear as if the strokes have faded in some areas. Keep in mind that this procedure is a two-step process, and will be complete after the perfecting, retouch appointment. The touch up appointment will be around an hour long, where we will fill in patchy areas in case some spots heal better than others, and can tweak anything you would like. Keep in mind, you will need to follow the same sort of aftercare as the first appointment, only you won’t experience as much flaking because we aren’t going to be putting in as many strokes as the first appointment. You will love your brows after your touch up!
what to avoid
Water: Shower, saunas, bathtub, pool, hot tub, washing your whole face in the sink, etc. The pigment is being inserted into the first layer of your skin, so it’s important the little strokes do not get absorbed by water or they will fall out. Getting your brows wet may result in faded, blurry pigment, or the pigment to disappear completely. Please by extremely careful to keep them as DRY as possible. No exceptions.
*When showering: Always make sure to put a thick layer of aquaphor on your brows before hopping into the shower, stick a piece of plastic wrap onto the Aquaphor, always keep your head tipped back, roll up a dry wash cloth, and place over the brows, use warm water (not hot) so the steam is minimal, and keep showers to a five-minute minimum.
*When washing your face: Wash from your eyes down in the sink with cleanser and water, and then wash your forehead and eyebrow region with a wash cloth, or clean the whole face with a makeup wipe.
Other things to avoid:
Going into the direct sunlight without a hat on
Applying product, including sunscreen or makeup, on the area for the first week and a half
Sweating on your forehead, meaning you should avoid cardio for one week
Chemical peels, botox, facials, or anything of that such that would disrupt the healing
Picking or peeling the flakes: let them fall off naturally
Retin A or retinol products - this fades the pigment
Sleeping on your face (if you are a side sleeper, no worries, you may need an extra touch up)
